Make the difference

Being part of Goolburri is a hugely meaningful job for COO Trent Adams, who can see firsthand the positive impact the center is having on the local community. With a career in the health, wellness and fitness industries, Adams has been in the role for four and a half years after starting out as a chief of staff.

“Goolburri has become an integral part of the community over the years, with hundreds of people passing through our doors every week to access our services. Our community health center and team of support staff empower our clients to live their lives to the fullest,” he says.

“There are so many facets to the services we provide here because we have fine-tuned the services to ensure we meet the needs of the community as we have grown over the years. We are always exploring new services that we can introduce here,” says Adams.

Goolburri encourages active collaboration to solve problems, make decisions and achieve vision. She also respects the right to privacy of individuals and families in all dealings with her clients.

“We strongly believe in training our healthcare workers to have the skills they need for the roles we require, which means we have a particular focus on training programs that we run internally,” he said.

Goolburri employs around 80 people in 10 offices across the region and has to communicate regularly throughout the day to ensure it is serving its customers.

“Optus has helped us a lot over the years as they have been proactive in researching how we can reduce our costs for mobile phone services, which is exceptional customer service,” says Adams.

Working with trusted brands like Optus to meet the technology and telecom needs of organizations allows them to focus on what they do best, says David Coventry, vice president of business and government at Optus.

Optus enables organizations to create a single toolbox of technology and telecommunications solutions that can easily scale up or down to meet the needs of the business at the time.

“With Optus Business Plus, we work closely with our customers to identify the challenges they face in the technology space. The feedback we received was that they needed a unique solution to their needs,” he said.

Although it’s a big job, Adams says Goolburri will remain a crucial service provider in the local community for years to come. It is committed to ensuring that the service provider continues to meet the changing needs of the community it serves.

“We help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people take control of their health and mental well-being, which only has a positive impact on the wider community,” he says.
