Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population announced on Wednesday the provision of free reproductive health and family planning services to 615,545 women, through mobile clinics and reproductive health convoys across the country in the first half of 2022. .

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said the ministry provided free family planning services and resources, through 771 reproductive health convoys and 13,745 visits to mobile clinics. , in addition to 3 promotional campaigns, which were set up in remote areas.

He pointed out that 185,942 new beneficiaries benefited from family planning services, which are provided free of charge.

Abdel Ghaffar said the ministry provides technical support to NGO-affiliated clinics by training the medical teams working there to provide high-quality family planning services. They also receive free family planning methods periodically, according to their needs.

The total result of the means reached 98,729 beneficiaries through 484 subsidized clinics, 419 clinics affiliated with NGOs and 65 clinics affiliated with the “2 Enough” program.

For his part, Hossam Abbas, head of the population and family planning sector, said that 151,360 seminars were held in women’s clubs, to raise awareness on reproductive health issues, and 101,884 women were trained in certain trades, such as handicrafts, leather products, sewing. and knitting, and the setting up of 2,381 product exhibitions.
